Introduction

The basic necessities of humans are water, food and shelter. But apart from it, there are certainly more important entities that help us live every day, and one such entity is clothes. Clothes are made from different kinds of fibres that are procured from nature or are even made artificially. Clothes are essential in protecting us from the extreme weather around us. In summers, we usually wear cotton clothes as it facilitates the evaporation process. In winters, we wear woollen clothes that keep us warm by insulating the body heat. Also, in the rainy season, we have special fabric to protect us from getting wet; they are umbrellas and raincoats. As you can see, clothes play an essential role in our lives. Fibres are the thin, strained thread-like structure obtained from the natural habitat and the artificial method around us. It can be divided into two types based on their extraction source. Those two types are given below.

Fibres that are obtained from natural habitats are termed natural fibres. These natural fibres can be divided into further two parts. One is the plant fibres, and the other is animal fibres. As the name suggests, the plant fibres are obtained from the plant kingdom, such as cotton, coconut fibre, jute, etc. Animal fibres are obtained from animals such as silk fabric, wool silk and more.

Human beings make synthetic fibres with technology and machines in the textile industries. Rayon, polyesters and nylons are human-made fibres that are manufactured in the textile industries.

The fabrics are the cloth materials that are obtained from the fabrics when it goes through various processes. These fabrics are made from thin fibres that are obtained from plants and animals. Some fibres like rayon and nylon are made synthetically in industries. Hence, we can also find polyester clothes or nylon strings in the market. These are also fabrics.     • Fibres extraction from plants or animals
    • The extracted fibres are made into yarn by twisting them together.
    • These yarns are used on the rollers, where they are weaved and knitted to make different fabrics.

The fabrics produced here are used in the industries where they are treated with different chemicals to make the desired cloth and materials.

Cotton fabrics are made from cotton yarns that are again made from thin cotton fibres. Cotton is a soft white material that is used to create lightweight and durable clothes.

The textile industries are inventing a new type of fabrics that are more durable and comfortable to wear.

Fabrics are used in different ways, and they have different usage. Some of them are given below.

Woollen fabrics are used in the winters to insulate our body from the extreme cold. The wool fabrics are the best cloth to insulate your body. It doesn’t let the body heat escape outside and hence keeps us warm in winters.

Fabrics can absorb the humidity to make the atmosphere good in the rooms. Woollen fabrics are the best to keep in the room to make the atmosphere good as they absorb more humidity than cotton fabrics.

Wool is a fabric that has greater sound absorbance properties. Hence fabrics are used in rooms to absorb unnecessary sounds also. They also help in reverberance in halls.

The Fibre to fabric process is long and provides us with usable clothes and fabrics. The fibres are the thin and thread-like structure that can be extracted from plants or animals. They can also be made synthetically in the industries. These fibres are twisted together in yarn to make threads that are used to make fabrics. The fibres have different types of properties that help us get different kinds of clothes.
